Reference Materials and Control Materials for traceability and quality assurance in chemical measurements - Session 1

Reference Materials and Control Materials

24/09/2020

Speaker: Lic. Mabel A. Fabro - Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial – INTI, Argentina

Live streaming: 24th September  2020, from 15:00 to 16:30 h RILAA’s distance learning platform (UTC-2 / Etc/GMT+2).

Language: Spanish (no translation into English).

Modality: Transmission with audio and video ¨live¨ followed by questions (via written chat) and responses from the speaker (via audio and video). The entire course is recorded and is available for later reproduction in the distance education portal of the INFAL.

Content: The session begins with a review of the quality assurance requirements and voluntary standards that apply to analytical measurements followed by an introduction to the concept of metrological traceability mainly oriented to analytical measurements or measurements related to chemistry. In this context, the need for chemical standards and matrix-matched standards is emphasized. The presentation explains how chemical standards are classified: certified and non-certified Reference Materials and distinguishes them from quality control materials (QCMs). Then, the presentation explains how to select a suitable material, based on the parameters that are going to be determined in a laboratory. Finally, guidelines are described for their proper management, which includes how to acquire, store, use, preserve, identify, etc.

Certificate: Each participant must meet the following requirements to download the certificate in pdf format: 1) Complete the evaluation survey and 2) Attend (at least 1 time) the full recorded version of the course.
